Juxtaposition – Winnipeg Photography

Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows. It’s what sunflowers do.

-Helen Keller

I have been eyeing the sunflower fields, since they bloomed, every time I drive from Oakbank into Winnipeg. In late summer I wanted to take some photos of these tall, majestic flowers, but missed my opportunity. The crops closest to my home were harvested before I was ready, and the others dried up. I thought I would have to wait until the summer for a chance to photograph them again, but realized the dried up flowers were still uniquely beautiful, and created an interesting juxtaposition between summer and winter.

I froze my fingers taking these photos, but it was worth it! This summer I am determined to photograph sunflowers when they are in full bloom. I hope to take photos of my children playing and exploring a nearby sunflower field, and think it would make a great location for family photos as well. Contact me if you’d like to book a sunflower session this summer 🙂
