Words – Winnipeg Photographer

Words can inspire. And words can destroy. Choose yours well.

-Robin Sharma

I love this quote, and believe it to be true. Language and communication are such powerful tools in the relationships we build, and hold with others. I am a very empathetic person and always take into account what I say, and how I choose to say it.

My business, Kristin Tiffany Photography, allows me to meet and communicate with so many wonderful people. I always strive to have excellent communication with my clients to ensure they have the best experience with me.

The words I’ve chosen in this series of photos, represent my life, my brand, and what I hope to capture in my photographs. Contact me today to book your session, and I can show you the wonderful service I offer to each and every one of my clients 🙂

Hard light – Oakbank Baby Photographer

Let your light shine.

-Anonymous

Today I took photos of Chloe in the sunlight shining thorough my bedroom window. Hard light is challenging, and it creates strong shadows, but after editing them in black and white I think they turned out beautifully.

This has been our first year, in our home here, in Oakbank. As time passes, and the seasons change, I am learning where and when the sun light shines through the many windows throughout the house.

I do not use a flash, and rely on natural light. When you book a session with me, I take into account the time of day, and the type of light available,  to ensure you receive the style of photos you hope for.

Lanterns – Winnipeg Photographer

Be my lantern, help me shine through.

-The Ready Set

This series of photos was taken at the Lights of the World display in Arizona. It featured many beautiful representations of elements from different countries. The Chinese lanterns were my favourite. They light they shone was soft, and highlighted the pretty hand-painted flowers featured on their shades.

While editing the photos, I discovered that if I zoomed in, and cropped the images in a creative way, the result looked like water colour paintings. This reminded me to keep my artistic eye sharp, when creating and finishing photos.

I always offer my clients my best work and would love to be your photographer. Contact me to book your session today 🙂

Heirloom – Oakbank Baby Photography

Preserve your memories, keep them well, what you forget you can never retell.

-Louisa May Alcott

Today I took photos of Chloe wearing the Christening gown my mom wore in 1955! I am thankful that my grandma kept this gown, and a pair of my mom’s baby shoes. My grandma also kept a photograph of my mom wearing the Christening dress – and although it is a little blurry – it still tells a story. It is amazing these items have been passed through generations of my family; and now I get to share them with my daughter.

I look forward to showing Chloe the photos I took of her today (wearing the items her grandma wore over 60 years ago), when she is old enough to understand how special it was. I love how photos capture our memories and help us remember the past.

Let me help you preserve your family memories. Contact me today to book a photo session 🙂

Carousel – Winnipeg Photographer

Life is a carousel. It goes up and down. All you gotta do is just stay on.

-Pharrell Williams

There is something very intriguing about carousel rides. As a kid, going to Tinkertown (just outside of Winnipeg), to ride the Merry-go-round was exciting… the interesting lights, music, movement, and choosing your favourite animal was alluring.

The carousel featured in this series of photos, is located in the Arizona Mills Mall. During our family trip to visit my in-laws, we stopped here for lunch, and found this gem beside the food court. Although the ride was closed for the day, I had my camera with me, and was able to take a few photos – before being told that no cameras were allowed in the mall !?!

I plan to take my children to Tinkertown this summer. It’s the perfect location for fun, candid, family photos. Contact me if you’d like to book a fun family session 🙂

Abandoned – Oakbank Photographer

Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.

– Confucius

I have driven by this abandoned homestead many times and today I finally had the chance to photograph it! I’m not sure of its history but that is what lured me in. I love old, abandoned buildings and the stories they tell. This particular homestead is located just off the highway from Oakbank to Dugald.

I was a little nervous about the road leading up to it, it was very muddy, and today’s weather made it extra soupy. I almost got stuck on the way in and thankfully made it out in one piece. Another fear came over me as I was walking knee deep in snow approaching the property; I wondered if any wildlife had moved in for the winter. Luckily nothing growled, scampered, or swooped at me!

If anyone recognizes this homestead and can give me a bit of its history, I’d love to hear it.  Locations like this provide great, interesting backdrops for photo sessions (permitting we are not trespassing). Contact me, to book a session, and we can scout out some neat locations 🙂

Fun – St. Vital Photography

Fun is good.

-Dr. Seuss

We always have fun time at St. Vital mall in Winnipeg. It has a nice play area for kids, an extensive food court, an arcade, a movie theatre,  and lots of shopping options for me 🙂

The play area is one of Harrison’s favourite places to go during the winter months, and Chloe enjoys watching the children. During our last few visits to the mall, I took some photos with my iphone, and although the quality of the photos is not nearly as nice as with my Canon 6D, I’m happy to have the memories archived.

Everyone has a mobile device these days, making it easy for parents to capture photos of their children at any time. This option is convenient, but lacks in quality. For quality, timeless photos of you and your family, it’s best to hire a photographer. Contact me today to book your session!

Legoland – Winnipeg Photographer

Play is the work of childhood.

-Mr. Rogers

Harrison loves building, and really likes Duplo and Lego. While we were in Arizona, we spent a few hours at Legoland and had a good time. It was a fun adventure with an interactive ride through a dark tunnel, several Lego build and play zones, a 4D cinema and a climbing apparatus.

Here are a few photos from our time there 🙂

Disguise – Oakbank Family Photography

When a dog is in your life, there is always a reason to laugh.

-Alphonse de Lamartine

Italian Greyhounds are an interesting breed. They have a unique appearance and are quite humorous. We have two IG’s: Polo and Sadie, and today I put newborn bonnets (from my prop collection) on them, and had a good laugh. They were fairly cooperative – I used roast beef to bribe them to sit long enough to snap a few photos!

Pets are family, and it’s important to have photos of them. I’m always happy when clients bring their pets along for family photos. When you book a session, let me know if you’d like your pet included!

Both of the bonnets used were purchased from Etsy: The lamb bonnet is from cheekychumy and the skunk bonnet is from RockNWool.

Technology – Oakbank Child Photographer

Yes, kids love technology, but they also love Legos, scented markers, handstands, books, and mud puddles. It’s all about balance.

-K.G. (First Grade Teacher)

I love this quote, and totally agree with it. My husband is passionate about technology and I remember two years ago when he wanted to buy Harrison an ipad… I was a little unsure. It is so important for children to play and interact with their environment, but it is also important for them to learn to adapt to this new technological world they are growing up in.

I have learned that the ipad can be an educational tool, rather than just a form of entertainment. If parents take the time to play educational games with their children, teach them to use the technology properly, it can be a useful teaching tool.

My husband recently introduced Harrison to “Mario Run” for the ipad, and he was as just as excited as Harrison, lol, as it was similar to games he played on Nintendo during his own childhood. And, although it is not “educational”, Harrison is learning about winning and losing, setting and achieving goals, practicing hand-eye coordination, taking turns and having a fun; all while bonding with his daddy when they play together 🙂

Our world has changed immensely since my husband and I were children, and technology is going to be part of my children’s childhood. We are choosing to embrace it, while keeping in mind the importance of balance.

The technology I use for photography is amazing; my camera, lens’, computer, iphone, editing software, and so much more. Photography has evolved and has changed the way we use photos in our everyday lives. Regardless, photos hold our memories and will always help us remember the special times in our lives.

Contact me today to book a session. I would love to help capture your special memories 🙂
