Reminiscing – Bird’s Hill Park Photography

To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.

-Audrey Hepburn

The weather is warming up, and spring is finally on its way. As I was driving today, I realized how much I miss seeing colour outside. The melting snow, dirty streets, and bare trees are getting old.

One of my favourite places to go in the spring and summer is Pineridge Hollow at Bird’s Hill Park. The flower gardens are beautiful, and decor is exactly my taste. It is the perfect location for photos and is only a short drive from Winnipeg.

These photos were taken last summer, and were the perfect burst of colour I was longing for 🙂 Contact me today and we can make arrangements to have Pineridge Hollow your photo session location.

Features – Winnipeg Baby Photography

Little hands and little feet, make our life so very sweet.

-Anonymous

Everyone tells you “they grow up so quickly”, and it is the truth! In the blink of an eye your tiny baby grows from newborn to toddler. This is what is happening in our family at the moment. Chloe will be a year old next month – and I still can’t believe it. I feel like her first year flew by more quickly than my son’s first year… maybe because having two children is BUSY 🙂

I am so happy that I took this series of photos several months ago. Today I decided to create a photo grid of these images; highlighting her tiny features. I would love to create a similar keepsake for you, documenting your baby’s tiny features, to help you remember this time in your life. Contact me today to book your newborn and baby sessions.

Polo & Sadie: Oakbank Family Photography

Heliophilia: (n.) desire to stay in the sun; love of sunlight

This term sums up my two dogs; and maybe all Italian Greyhounds. Their favourite place to be is asleep in the sunlight. Today I found them relaxing in my daughter’s bedroom and decided to take a few photos. Direct sunlight is not ideal for portrait photography, but these images are to remember my dogs, and the eye squinting made for some cute photos 🙂

Contact me if you’d like photos of your pets. I am happy to photograph them and consider them family.

Juxtaposition – Winnipeg Photography

Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows. It’s what sunflowers do.

-Helen Keller

I have been eyeing the sunflower fields, since they bloomed, every time I drive from Oakbank into Winnipeg. In late summer I wanted to take some photos of these tall, majestic flowers, but missed my opportunity. The crops closest to my home were harvested before I was ready, and the others dried up. I thought I would have to wait until the summer for a chance to photograph them again, but realized the dried up flowers were still uniquely beautiful, and created an interesting juxtaposition between summer and winter.

I froze my fingers taking these photos, but it was worth it! This summer I am determined to photograph sunflowers when they are in full bloom. I hope to take photos of my children playing and exploring a nearby sunflower field, and think it would make a great location for family photos as well. Contact me if you’d like to book a sunflower session this summer 🙂

Matryoshka – Oakbank Photographer

Matryoshka has come to mean “little mother” based on the idea that the outer or largest doll holds her babies inside like an expectant mother and that each daughter in turn becomes a mother. They are symbols of fertility and motherhood.

My parents brought this set of dolls home as a souvenir, and my son was fascinated by them. I recently learned the history of these Russian Dolls or Matryoshka, and love what they represent.

Their meaning represents everything I love to photograph… expectant mothers, babies, children, and families. I am so glad I documented the important stages into motherhood for myself, and would be honoured to help you do the same.

I photograph on location within Winnipeg, and surrounding areas; And offer in- studio sessions, in my home, in Oakbank. Contact me today to book you sessions 🙂

He loves me, he loves me not – Oakbank Baby Photography

Oh, dear little daisy, come whisper me softly,
And tell me a secret I’m longing to know.
His name will lie hid in your golden heart ever;
Oh, say does he love me, and whisper it low.

—Burton Egbert Stevenson

Now that Chloe is crawling, she has entered a whole new world…and so have I (lol). She now has access to just about everything around her; which included my flowers the other day. I was taking photos, and she was curious, so I passed her one of the daisies. She began pulling the petals off which reminded me of the “He loves me, he loves me not” game I used to play with my friends when I was young.

This series of photos were taken with my macro lens, because that’s what I had on my camera at the time. It was tricky to compose the images due to the magnified nature of that lens, but I am still happy to have these cute memories.

Sometimes the best photos are unplanned. It is nice to have a mix of candid and staged photos, as they capture a moment in time differently.

Children are always curious about nature and it is nice to take photos of them exploring their environment. There are wonderful locations in Winnipeg and the surrounding areas, that offer beautiful and interesting backgrounds for photos. As your photographer, I will provide you with a variety of images that best represent your moments in time. Contact me today to book your sessions!

Tiny details – Winnipeg Photographer

Details matter, it’s worth waiting to get it right.

-Steve Jobs

I currently have a fresh flower arrangement in my kitchen, and today I looked more closely at the flowers and noticed these beautiful tiny buds and blooms. I’m not sure what type of flower they are, but they are my favourite from the bunch. Their soft colours, and delicate nature mirror my artistic style.

The closer I got using my macro lens, the more I noticed how unique and pretty they were. The tiny details were appealing to me, and could have easily been overlooked; as they were surrounded by much larger flowers and leaves.

Details are so important in photography, not only in deciding what to focus on for each photo, but when editing – to ensure distracting elements are corrected.

I always consider the details when you work with me; from the time you book your session, until your images are packaged and delivered. As a Winnipeg photographer, based in Oakbank, delivery of your prints and products to your home, is one detail I feel is important 🙂

Chloe: Winnipeg Baby Photography

Her eyes sparkle because she sees magic everywhere.

-Anonymous

Chloe’s baby blues are beautiful. I may be biased, being her mom, but we get complimented on them often 🙂 My son Harrison also has blue eyes, but are starting to become more green – like mine. I guess time will tell whether Chloe’s eyes will stay this shade of blue, or change like her brother’s. Regardless of the colour of their eyes, there is nothing as special as gazing into your child’s eyes and feeling overwhelming love.

When taking portrait shots I always attempt to focus on my subjects eyes. They tell a story and show emotion. These photos of Chloe were taken with my macro lens, while she was playing, and nailing the focus and composition was challenging!

I was happy to capture these few images of my daughter and would love to take photos of your baby.  In addition to my newborn packages, I offer several photo packages for older babies. If you live in Winnipeg, or any of the surrounding areas; contact me today, and book the session you are looking for!
